Objective This is a project-based course in which each student will fabricate a box with a tension fit lid and an individually designed and created knob on top.
Skill Level Intermediate
Costs and Procedures Tuition for the 4 day Box Workshop is $350. Tuition does not include materials. A $75 non refundable deposit is required to secure a space in the course. The balance is due at the first class. Checks, cash and credit cards are accepted. You may request an invoice to be sent via email that will include instructions to pay by credit card or check.
Materials Each student must bring to the first class enough 18 gauge copper or silver sheet to cut the following:
- 2 1/2” by 12” for the sides
- 4 1/2” disk for the bottom
- 4 1/2” disk for the top
- 12” by 1/2” for the flange
- The hexagonal box requires an additional 4 ½” disk
- This does not include what you will need for the decorative knob on top. We can discuss this at the first class.
Even though Martha’s studio is equipped with the necessary hand tools, students are encouraged to bring their own hand tools such as pliers, cone nose plastic hammer, chisel/flat face plastic hammer, scribe, saw, files, etc.
